Question #1: Tell us a little bit about yourself.
Answer: I'm Sandy Richards, a mom of 3 from Mentor, Ohio. I have two boys, Zoli (14) and Tyler (12), and a little girl, Izzy. (4) |

Question #2: What inspired you to write the 7 Very Important Things to BE?
Answer: I felt I was struggling as a mom with my middle son. He's a really great kid but he was unfocused and all over the place. He acts a lot before he thinks and that makes it difficult to parent him. |

Question #3: So how did you come up with the 7 Very Important Things to BE?
Answer: I was working with a pediatric neurologist and I learned part of the problem was he was overwhelmed by the clutter in his own head. So I made it my mission to simplify it for him. While doing this, I kept coming back to these 7 things. I realized if you really master these 7 things you can deal with anything life throws at you. |

Answer: Confident, Happy, Resilient, Positive, Hardworking, Respectful and Patient. |

Question #7: Why is now such an important time to teach your kids the 7 Very Important Things to BE?
Answer: There are several reasons. First, all the extra activities and noise has been slowed down right now. So if you teach your kids the 7 Very Important Things to BE now, when life picks back up they will have this solid foundation within them that you gave them. They will be better equipped to deal with life. |

Secondly, the clutter and noise that is left in society right now is uncertainty and uneasiness. So by teaching your kids the 7 Very Important Things to BE, you're giving them tools that will empower them to deal with the uncertainty and feel more in control.

Question #8: What's the most difficult one to teach your child?
Answer: That's a tough question. I think happy is because happiness is so personal and really something you have to discover on your own. I think resilient was the most painful one to teach your child because you have to let them fall to really grasp the concept of bouncing back. |
